Σχετικά με αυτόν τον Διαγωνισμό

The South African Mathematics Challenge (SAMC) is a national mathematics competition for grades 4-7, organized by the South African Mathematics Foundation (SAMF). The challenge is designed to encourage curiosity, exploration, and enjoyment of mathematics among primary school learners.

The competition consists of two rounds. Round 1 is held in March, featuring 20 questions to be completed in 60 minutes. Students scoring 50% or above qualify for Round 2, which features more challenging problems. Each grade has a separate paper appropriate to its curriculum level, ensuring age-appropriate difficulty.

A distinctive feature of the SAMC is that students can participate individually or in pairs, encouraging collaborative problem-solving. The challenge is also notable for its commitment to accessibility: Quintile 1 and Quintile 2 schools (the most disadvantaged categories) enter for free. The SAMC forms part of SAMF's broader mission to develop mathematical talent in South Africa and provides a pathway toward the South African Mathematics Olympiad for older students.
